I am a Infectious Diseases and Microbiology clinician and a Wellcome Global Health Research Clinical PhD Fellow.

I am currently based at the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) in Kampala where I work as part of an advanced HIV disease research group conducting observational studies and RCTs aimed at improving the diagnosis, prevention and management of opportunistic infections (OIs) amongst hospitalised adults living with HIV. I have a particular interest in HIV-associated neurological infections (cryptococcal meningitis, and TB meningitis).

Research
My research interests are focussed on improving outcomes for adults living with advanced HIV disease, particularly within the inpatient setting. We are conducting a number of clinical studies with the aim of improving the diagnosis, management and prevention of key opportunistic infections (TB, blood stream infection and cytomegalovirus) through use of screening bundles and novel diagnostics.

I am PI of the IMPROVE study: Integrated management of cryptococcal meningitis and concurrent opportunistic infections to improve outcomes in advanced HIV disease - a strategy RCT to investigate the optimal strategy for ultra short course (1HP) TB preventive therapy for adults with advanced HIV disease and cryptococcal meningitis.
